The Student Health Action Researchers (SHARe) Collective at the University of British Columbia (UBC) is a student led community of practice, established in recognition of the limited academic support and formal learning opportunities for student researchers interested in qualitative and mixed-methods at UBC. Our mission is to provide a collaborative and supportive environment where student researchers can share their work, network with peers, professionals, and community, and enhance their methodological skills through shared learning experiences. Some of our activities include:
- Presenting research proposals, work-in-progress, and preliminary findings.
- Organizing seminars on qualitative methodologies.
- Journal club discussions.
- Holding workshops on mixed-methods and qualitative research approaches.
- Networking events to connect students with peers and professionals.
Membership is open to UBC students who conduct qualitative and mixed-methods health research. If you would be interested in joining, you can contact us here.
The SHARe Collective meets once monthly during the Fall and Winter sessions of the academic year (i.e., September to May). Meetings alternate between virtual and in-person formats, and each meeting lasts for 1.5 to 2 hours. In-person meetings are held on UBC-Vancouver campus, with the location announced in advance.
